In Dale Gillis' letter he accuses Cal Thomas of scientific illiteracy and then tells us about predictions by NBC of an Arctic Ocean free of ice. NBC, that's a great source of unbiased info. He then tells us about Al Gore getting a standing ovation while addressing a bunch of people who agree with his hype; big shocker there. ...more

Mr. Watson's recent letter just typifies the liberal mindset with which we are so grievously afflicted. I suppose it is perfectly appropriate to vilify and demonize our president for the past eight years and to trash and ridicule the decent and honorable American citizen, Sarah Palin, but God forbid that we should say anything negative about the Democratic "Messiah." ...more

Steve Chapman (Obama's 'My Pet Goat' Moment), so you are "appalled and disappointed" by what Barack Obama said? I, and I am sure many others, are appalled and disappointed by you and other bloviators such as Cal Thomas and Rush Limbaugh are doing your best to put a negative spin on anything the President-Elect says in a ridiculous attempt to somehow discredit him. It would be absolutely absurd to expect that the Obama camp had not had contact with the Illinois governor. The question is whether there was any attempt to make an illicit deal concerning Sen. Obama's vacated Senate seat. ...more

The Political Discourse The mental picture of local Republicans, poison pens at the ready, waiting to pounce on Barack Obama's choice for vice president is mildly amusing (Letters, Aug. 26). Obama could have chosen Mother Teresa, and these right-wingers would have said she's a liberal who works with terrorist sympathizers. Such is the political discourse in this country. ...more
