Why 28 equals two I can't answer Cathy Starnes' well-articulated questions in the first three paragraphs of her letter of Feb. 24, but her last paragraph that it's an "excessive use of bureaucrats" to have 28 of them on a 30-member panel is surely unfair. ...more

The news story regarding the school district financial rating was interesting. I really liked the statement made by the Asst. Superintendent of Business Operations Mike Averyt, "What hurts the most was the legislature when they took our millage away." The Spring Lake Improvement District Board of Supervisors are again violating their oaths of office and are not doing the will of the people. They are now asking the state Legislature for broad new powers that through assessment powers would drive many senior homeowners into foreclosure. These are trying times for many seniors who are on fixed incomes. We are nationwide in the greatest financial crunch that America has ever seen. ...more

It is very encouraging to see our newly elected county commissioner, James Adkins, prove to be a man of his word. One of his campaign promises was to park THE Bus. As reported in Hernando Today, it looks like he is attempting to do so. ...more
