SEBRING — Okeechobee scored three goals minutes into the second half, as the Brahmans defeated the Sebring Blue Streaks 4-3 in boys soccer action at Firemen's Field on Tuesday. Nick Peters scored the first goal for Sebring to tie the score at one heading into the locker room at halftime. "I thought we played pretty well in the first half," said SHS coach Paul Brown. "We just didn't come out for the second half. The team looked so disorganized and [Okeechobee] took advantage of our defensive mistakes." ...more

LAKE PLACID –– After going through last season where goals were hard to come by, the Lake Placid boys soccer team erupted in Tuesday night's match against Avon Park. The Green Dragons, who improved to 1-1 on the season, scored early and often in cruising to a 5-0 win over the Red Devils at Roger Scarborough Memorial Field. "We had a good effort and scored a couple of quality goals," Lake Placid coach Josh Virkler said. "We stayed organized, got forward pretty fast and if it wasn't for an outstanding effort by the Avon Park goalie, we would have scored a bunch more. "Our guys needed that one game where we bagged a couple of goals and found out that they could score, because we lost a lot of close games last year because we couldn't put the ball in the back of the net." ...more

LAKE PLACID — Nothing beats experience. With six returning starters and 13 seniors, that's what the Lake Placid boys soccer team is counting on to turn its fortunes around this season. AVON PARK –– When you go winless the previous season, there is no place to go but up. The Avon Park Red Devils boys soccer team are hard at work to try and put the past behind them, as they welcome their fourth head coach in four years –– Jocelyn Simplice. Simplice, who hails from the island of Haiti, was the AP girls soccer assistant coach last season and takes over a Red Devil squad that scored just five goals all of last season.
