BRADENTON — Sophomore forward Joe Young scored a team-high 21 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the Sebring boys basketball team past Braden River 54-51 in Class 4A-District 10 action. Senior point guard Javier Medina added nine points to go along with seven assists as the Blue Streaks improved to 7-3 in district play. "I'm happy with the win," said Sebring coach Princeton Harris. DAVENPORT — The Avon Park boys soccer team gave a solid effort against a talented Ridge Community squad on Thursday night, but despite playing well, the Red Devils dropped an 8-0 decision to the Bolts in AP's last regular season match of the season. SEBRING — The Sebring boys soccer team made sure their last regular-season home match was one to remember. Senior forward Nicholas Peters scored two goals and Austin Brady led a suffocating defense, as the Blue Streaks shut out Clewiston 4-0 on Monday night at Firemen's Field. After back-to-back poor performances last week, Peters jump-started the Sebring offense, and led an attack that peppered Tiger goalie Jose Jaimez with 16 shots. ...more

AUBURNDALE — Rickey Taylor had 14 points and four other Red Devils scored more than eight points each Friday night as the Avon Park boys basketball team jumped ahead early and cruised to a 73-58 win over Victory Christian of Lakeland at the T-Mac Tournament. Avon Park led 33-22 at the half and used a 23-16 fourth quarter to pull away for the victory over the Saints. Xavier Caldwell had nine points, while Teddy Allen, Marvin Williams and Tim Dennis each added eight to pace the Devils, who took on Lake Region on Saturday. SEBRING –– After starting the season off struggling to score goals, the Sebring boys soccer team has turned into a veritable scoring machine. The Blue Streaks continued their outstanding recent play on Thursday night, as senior Daniel Grimaldo scored two goals and Nick Peters and Gilberto Santos added a goal to spark a 4-1 win over Palmetto in a key Class 4A-District 10 match at Firemen's Field. "This is one of the best feelings I've had all season," said an elated Grimaldo. "We've come so far and we're a different team from the beginning of the year. "Our defense is anticipating passes and playing great, and our offense is on fire." Sebring, which is unbeaten in its last 10 matches, improved to 10-4-2 overall and 6-1-1, while the Tigers suffered their first district loss and dropped to 10-2-1, 7-1-1. ...more
