SEBRING — Amanda Grinaldo's three booming shots on goal in Sebring's season-opening loss to LaBelle didn't get the Blue Streaks on the scoreboard, but they certainly showed signs of the freshman's promise. Two days later, Grinaldo turned that promise into a Sebring victory against Lake Placid, pulling off her first career hat trick in her second start and lifting the Blue Streaks to a 3-2 victory over the Class 3A Green Dragons on Thursday at Firemen's Field. "That's what we expect out of our freshman," grinned Sebring senior captain Sadie Adams. The Streaks' three unanswered goals were all Grinaldo's: She broke behind the Lake Placid defense to score just before the half in the 36th minute, then booted the equalizer on a penalty kick in the 55th and put Sebring on top with a shot from point-blank range in the 75th. ...more

SEBRING — Ashley Waldon isn't hesitating, and the Sebring volleyball team isn't slowing down for anyone. The senior setter, making her first start since an on-court collision with teammate Anna West sidelined her for the remainder of the regular season, got her bearings back while Sebring got back on track, as the Streaks cruised to a 25-9, 25-6, 25-8 victory over Booker in the opening match of the Class 4A-District 10 volleyball tournament at SHS. "I was definitely a little bit scared when I came back against Lake Placid," said Waldon, who played the final two sets of Sebring's last match of the regular season, a three-set loss to the Class 3A Green Dragons. "Tonight, I just tried to play my game. I didn't hesitate, I was just trying to get the jitters out." ...more

School officials at Fred Wild Elementary and three other district schools are looking to the Positive Behavior Support program this year with hopes of improving student conduct. Park Elementary was first to implement the program in 2003-04 with Sebring Middle following in 2005-06. Fred Wild and Avon Park Middle started the program this year. Austin said she received a R.O.A.R. ticket in the lunchroom and another ticket in her classroom for being first to follow her teacher's directions.
