In regards to Jim Gulledge's letter I have to say I agree with him 100 percent. I just don't understand people or the press. I know the press is suppose to be people also. But there are times I wonder. I too am very concerned about a man running for president of this country who does not honor its flag. I sent Highlands Today an e-mail I had received on that subject. I did not ask them to print the e-mail. I said I felt this should be looked into an article ran, so the people of Highlands County can make informed choices. Except Mr. Gulledge's letter, I have not seen one word on Sen. Barack Obama. ...more

Other limitations apply, and only about 225,000 people will benefit from it. In fact, it's fair to say that if these homeowners are already in trouble, freezing interest rates won't help much – if at all. ...more

A bus full of 15 Iraqi lawyers carrying a four-page, single-spaced letter to President Bush arrived at the White House Tuesday. The mission was to request less U.S. help for building prisons and more for establishing the rule of law. There was no immediate official response, and experience of the last four years indicates nothing will be done in the future. ...more
