HOLIDAY - Rebecca Ann Gohn wakes up each morning with the same thought running through her mind: "This could be the day." For months, Gohn said, she's been terrorized by a man she and her husband, Edward, used to consider a friend, In fact, Hadzi Palevic and his wife, who goes by "Judy" rather than her Yugoslavian name, were the Gohns' best friends for a time. ...more

"Cartoonist" Paul Coombs of Tribune Media Services owes an apology to the citizens of New Hampshire for the tasteless, offensive caricature that appeared in yesterday's edition of The Tampa Tribune. After the attack on 9/11 and America at war again, this time against Islamic terror, the division of the electorate seems to have become even greater. ...more

Occasionally I write guest columns for Highlands Today. I enjoy writing and research my subject(s) thoroughly. Nonetheless, opinion articles are located on the opinion page for a reason. I honor a person's right to present their views in the public forum, and I thoroughly enjoy it when others comment about my writing whether their comments are positive or negative. I often learn from such comments. For example, Randy Ludacer criticized a couple of items in my column. Mr. Ludacer's words of criticism were respectful and backed up with opinions of merit. I learned from Mr. Ludacer's insightful comments. I will not, however, permit anyone to slander my character without an appropriate response. ...more
