A crowd of 80 golfers hit the links at Harder Hall Golf Course on Saturday morning to compete in the 11th annual Meals on Wheels Golf Scramble.
The winning team in the first flight was the talented foursome of Jim Brooks, David Greenslade, Ricky Helms and Dennis Tondee, who combined to shoot a solid 52. The winning team needed to be on their toes, as the second-place foursome of Phil Raymond, Robert DeGrave, Ron Pergolini and Dr. Dale Anderson came in with a strong score of 54. The third-place team of Josh Sommerfield, Greg Sommerfield, Bruce Sommerfield and Forrest Tinker were four shots back with a score of 56.
It was quite a scramble in the second flight, where three teams finished with scores of 63. Through a draw of cards, the winning team consisted of Michael London, Tom Jenkins, Steve and Ferland Cribb. The second-place team consisted of Jason Tommie, James Tommie, John Madrigal and Josh Madrigal.
The third-place team from the second flight was Dennis Murphy, Brian Murphy, Mike Murphy and Tod Schwingel. The competition for the top spot in the third flight came right down to the wire, but in the end the team of Chuck Oakes, Robin Norton, Lyle Pontious and Pat Reilly placed first with a 63, while the team of Byron Arledge, Johhny Jones, Curtis Osceola and Jordon Jones placed second with a 64.
David Nuske, James Serwas, Art Stanyer and Jack Van Dam placed third with a 72.
The longest drive for men went to Joshua Sommerfield, with Dottie Boyd hitting the longest drive for women.
Josh Sommerfield also won closest to the pin on No. 12, while Dennis Tondee had closest to the pin honors on No. 5. Bryan Arledge won closest to the pin on No. 9 and Ron Porgolini had the closest to the pin on No. 16.
