The 26th annual Kiwanis Charities Golf Classic was held on April 24th on Sun 'N Lake's Deer Run course.
Golfers enjoyed the sunny day and the demanding signature par 3 18th hole, which had the tees backed up to enable participants to qualify for the hole-in-one prize offered by Alan Jay Automotive Group.
The tournament, which used a four-person scramble format, attracted 85 players.
In the First Flight, a match of cards had the team of John Brown, Ken Ross, Damon Mitchell and Jimmy Steele finishing first, while second place went to Vince Liles, Blake Liles, Grover Crawford and Bill Davis. Third place was the foursome of Dick Sutton, Greg Long, Dick Cooper and Jerry Marshall.
The Second Flight was won by the talented team of Dave Miller, Nick Gillis, Aaron Walkup and Gary Pembroke. Runners-up were Gary Guenther, Bob Guenther, Tom Hill and Kevin Fuller, while third place, in a match of cards, was the team of Hal Austin, Eddie Wheeler, Larry Barnes and Gary Mullens.
Winning the Third Flight was the foursome of Rick Hargrove, Bert Slater, Don Rodgers and Josh Rodgers, second place, in a match of cards, was the team of Mary Gillis, Judy Granger, Vera McGahan, and Glenda Rosendahl and third place went to Gary Van Hoorne, Pat Elmer, George Brown and Sally Brown.
