Beatty gives golfers a treat

As the head professional at River Greens Golf Course, Jason Beatty has always strived to provide an enjoyable experience for the golfers in the Heartland.

Beatty, who has come up with many novel ways to make golfers feel special in his six years at River Greens, is now offering the best deal yet - free golf.

Every Thursday a new promotion called River Greens MVP will be in play, in which a golfer - be it a member or non-member - will be chosen at random and given free green fees, use of a special golf cart at no charge, range balls and a free lunch.

"This is a promotional event that we're doing for our loyal customers," Beatty said. "Every Thursday, at random, we're going to pick a person, member or non-member, and they will get a free round of golf, range balls, use of a personalized golf cart with a GPS system, a free lunch and, if there's time, a free 10-minute lesson from me.

"If they're a member, they already get free greens fees, so they will receive a free gift."

The River Greens Golf Course is in excellent shape and the demanding, but fun course, is one that offers golfers of all skill levels a fair test.

"The MVP promotion is just another way for us to thank the golfers that come out to River Greens," said the 27-year-old Beatty. "The course is in outstanding shape and we invite all the golfers in the Heartland to come out and see what we have to offer.

"We do everything we can to make playing at River Greens an enjoyable experience and golfers of any ability can enjoy this course because it isn't that long."

Beatty, who went to Webber International University on a golf scholarship, worked at Bay Hill one summer and at Champions Gate for three years as an assistant after graduating from Webber in 2003.

Beatty, who is an outstanding golfer and excellent teacher, earned his Class A license in May of 2009, which requires hours of hard work and study in the golf business.

"Earning my Class A license is something I wanted to do," the River Greens pro said. "I learned a lot and I'm dedicated to serving the public and helping golfers learn about and enjoy the game of golf."

Another event that started last year and was very popular is the Get Golf Ready in 5 Days program.

The idea behind the program is to bring adults into the game of golf in a fast, fun and affordable way with a series of five introductory lessons in a small environment at a cost of a very affordable $99 per person.

"The Get Golf Ready program provides an affordable and rewarding educational experience for those who are interested in learning more about the game of golf," said Beatty. "The program will provide a casual yet structured setting using fun, skill-enhancement formats to help participants become comfortable on the links and enable them to continue to develop their skills as golfers."

The Get Ready program begins on Feb. 20 and runs through March 20, and the five lessons range from basic skills instruction as well as information regarding the background of the game's rules, etiquette and values.

Participants will gain insight into techniques regarding chipping, putting, full swing, half swing and bunker play as well as the fundamental guidelines regarding the use and maintenance of golf equipment, keeping score and navigating the course.

"This is a great program and it is mainly for people that are just learning the game or want to learn how to play the proper way," said Beatty. "It's a very relaxed setting and it's a great way to learn everything from the rules to the way to grip and swing the club the right way.

"Golf is a great sport that can be learned and enjoyed at any age and we encourage everyone that's interested to come out and give it a try."
