Youth Baseball Registration Winding Down

Youth baseball registration deadlines are quickly approaching and all three Highlands County leagues will hold sign-ups this weekend. Sebring and Avon Park will hold registration at their home fields, while Lake Placid's deadline for both baseball and softball is 9 a.m. Saturday. Check below for more information about each league:

Sebring Youth Baseball is accepting registrations for tee ball (4-5), pitching machine (6-8) and minors (9-10) on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Max Long Field.

Registration is also being accepted at Custom Prints, 2805 Alt 27 S., Sebring (behind Publix). Registration forms can also be downloaded from sebringbaseball.com and mailed to Post Office Box 1178, Sebring, FL 33871.

Cost of registration is $75 per player. For families with two players the cost is $65 for the second player. Families with more than three players the cost is $55 for each additional player after the second player. All registrations must be received by 5 p.m. on Jan. 20, 2009.

Avon Park Youth Baseball will hold registration for tee ball (ages 4-6) and minors (ages 9-11) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Durrah Martin Sports Complex.

Cost is $55 for first child and $50 for each additional child. Copy of birth certificate will be required at time of sign-up.

Registration forms are also being accepted at The Top Shop, 108 South Forest Ave., Avon Park.

Majors (11-12) and Dixie Boys (13-14) registrations will also be accepted, but registration days will occur at a later date.

Lake Placid Youth Baseball is accepting registrations for the 2009 season for baseball (ages 5-10) and softball (ages 7-9).

Cost is $30 for tee ball (ages 5-6) and $40 for baseball (7-8, 9-10) and softball.

Registration forms are available at www.lpflrecreation.net and can be submitted at Holiday Inn Express, 608 South Lakeview Road in Lake Placid.

Registration deadline and draft is 9 a.m. on Jan. 17. League age is defined by age as of April 30, 2009 for boys and June 1, 2009 for girls. Copy of birth certificate required.
