The South Florida Community College baseball team has done all the little things right in winning 10 of their first 11 games to start the season.
The Panthers, the sixth-ranked team in the state, made some uncharacteristic mistakes in Sunday's game and ended up losing 11-9 in 11 innings.
"We had a two-run lead late in the game," said SFCC coach Rick Hitt. "But we made a couple of mistakes and FCCJ took advantage of them to push across a couple of runs to tie the game.
"They won it in the eleventh on a two-run, walk-off homer."
The loss dropped SFCC to 10-2 on the season and ended a three-day road trip for the Panthers.
"This was the first time this season that our pitchers got banged around," said Hitt. "We've done a good job of executing and doing the little things right early in the season, but we didn't do that today and it cost us the game.
"We just have to stay focused and keep playing hard and we'll be fine."
SFCC is back on the diamond on Wednesday when they host Central Florida Community College at 5 p.m.
