A very experienced and skilled Moore Haven squad put on quite an offensive display while beating Lake Placid 13-2 in five innings in girls softball on Monday night.
"Moore Haven is a very good team," said Lake Placid coach Marilyn Jones. "Most of their girls play on travel teams, and you could tell by the way they swung the bats and played defense that they play softball most of the year.
"It's very evident they spend a lot of time playing, and it gave our girls a glimpse of what we need to do to become a better team."
Christina Wells led Lake Placid with one hit and scored a run and Ashley Paeplow returned from injury to take over the catching duties.
"Christina did a good job and it was nice to have Ashley back in the lineup," Jones said. "Our pitching wasn't as sharp as our last game, but Moore Haven really swung the bats well.
"It's early in the season and we're going to keep working hard to get better."
The loss dropped the Green Dragons to 1-1 on the season. LP is back on the diamond Friday when the Green Dragons host Immokalee at 7:30 p.m.
