Jaguars rumble past Blue Streaks

The Port St. Lucie baseball team scored seven runs in a pivotal fifth inning on Thursday as the Jaguars spoiled Sebring's final regular-season home game of the year with a 9-3 victory.

"They always hit well, and we just left too many runners on base," said Sebring coach Hoppy Rewis. "They scored seven in the fifth and that was the difference in the game."

Evan Lewis had two hits for the Streaks, who host the Class 4A-District 10 baseball tournament beginning Monday at Firemen's Field. The second-seeded Streaks face seventh-seeded Booker at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Sebring won both meetings between the two squads this season as the Tornadoes went winless (0-12) in district play.

"We're hitting, we're just not hitting at the right time," Rewis said. "We have to hit with people on base, and we'll be all right."
