Three Avon Park boys golfers broke 40 for nine holes on Monday to lead the Red Devils to a victory over All Saints in a match at River Greens golf course.
Clay Davis fired a 34, Greg Gentry carded a 35 and Evan Danzey shot 39 to help keep Avon Park (3-0) undefeated on the season. Ryan Tracey rounded out the scores with a 44, giving Avon Park 152 strokes compared to All Saints' 190.
"There were really tough conditions and I'm really proud of the kids' effort," said AP coach John Barben. "They had pins in really hard places and for the kids to shoot 34 and 35 in those conditions with those pins is really good."
Barben said he was especially pleased with Tracey's round, especially since the Red Devil coach has been looking to increase his team's depth this season.
"Ryan came through," Barben said.
The Devils are back in action on Thursday, when they travel to Torrey Oaks country club to take on Hardee. Tee times begin at 4:30 p.m. They return to Highlands County on Sept. 15, when they play in the Hawkins Invitational in Sebring.
"The kids have stepped up and we're having fun," Barben said.
