Blue Streaks Edge Yellow Jackets

Despite windy conditions, the Sebring girls golf team managed to ease past Bartow on Thursday afternoon.

The Blue Streaks shot a four-person team score of 205, while the Yellow Jackets came in with a total of 261.

Sebring junior Camiel White led the way with a 47 for nine holes, while senior Priscilla Adams finished with a 50.

Freshman Savana Fisher shot a 53 and freshman Lindsey Lovett rounded out the scoring with a 55.

The Class 2A Blue Streaks, who improved to 2-1 on the season, are back in action next Tuesday with an away match at Celebration.

Lake Placid Blasts Moore Haven

MOORE HAVEN - The Lake Placid girls volleyball squad displayed their talent and depth in blasting Moore Haven by scores of 25-10, 25-6, 25-15 on Thursday night.

"We came out with a lot of intensity and enthusiasm and played well," said Green Dragon coach Marilyn Jones. "Taylor Summerfield had a solid match and Ali Baker and Sierra Weaver had a good match at the net."

The win improved Class 3A Lake Placid to 2-0 on the season.

"It was a good win and we were able to play a lot of the girls that don't get to see a lot of action," said Jones. "We continue to work hard in practice and it's starting to pay off."

The Green Dragons are back on the court this weekend for a two-day tournament in LaBelle.

"There should be some good teams in the tournament that we don't normally get to see," Jones said. "We want to play against good competition because that gets us ready for our district matches coming up."

Avon Park Cruises Past Clewiston

CLEWISTON - The Avon Park girls volleyball team recorded their first win of the season by beating Clewiston on Thursday night. The win evened the Class 4A Red Devils record at 1-1.

Avon Park hosts District 10 rival Hardee on Tuesday night in the Red Devil gym.
