SEBRING -- With a foursome comprised of some of the finest shot-makers in the Heartland, the multi-talented team of Grover Crawford, Mike Browning, Rene Brown and Vince Liles shot a 17-under-par 55 to run away with first place in the Championship Flight of the Blue Streak Classic golf tournament on Saturday.
The 25th annual event attracted a field of 116 players, who competed in a four-person scramble format over 18 holes of the par-72 Turtle Run course at Sun 'N Lake Country Club.
Placing second in the Championship Flight with a fine 59 was the team of Ryan Magnuson, Kip Goolsby, Travis Rapp and Chris Myers.
Coming in a close third was the foursome of Pat Dell, Mike Lamp, Kip Doty and Steve Swan with a 60.
The popular tournament is a fundraiser for the Sebring High School athletic programs, and finishing first in the First Flight was the group of Greg Kramer, Matt Shallock, Dennis Crews and Jeff Harstine with a 61, after a match of cards with the team of Bill Boyd, Dave Scholl, George Hensley and Craig Johnson.
Coming in third in the First Flight was Joe DeCerbo, Barry O'Connell, Ken Poe and Jim Acevedo with a 63.
The Second Flight was won by the foursome of Sebring football coach Jared Hamlin, Neil Gruber, Blue Streak assistant coach Steve Berry and Blake Liles with a 61.
Placing second in the Second Flight was the team of Karen Bolin, Heath Elder, Mark Frazier and Johnny Elder with a 62, while the foursome of Charles Brown, Donna Brown, Chuck Rafatti and Colleen Rafatti came in third with a score of 64.
