AVON PARK - Christian Crews proved to be Okeechobee's ace, as the hurler gave up just one run on three hits in a 7-1 victory in the opening round of the Dixie Youth Majors (ages 10-12) District 8 tournament at Durrah Martin Recreational Complex on Friday.

Ryan Dick smacked a solo home run into left-center field for Avon Park's lone run of the game.

The loss puts Avon Park in hole from the onset of the three-team, double-elimination tournament and will have to come back strong against Clewiston at 10 a.m. Saturday to avoid being ousted.
