SEBRING - Jason Sava has honed his game on the Sertoma Junior Golf Tour for the past several summers.
And now, the hard work and practice are paying off for the talented teenager, who shot a 79 to win the boys 15-16 age group during Thursday's Sertoma Junior Tour event at Sebring Golf Club.
"My short game was working really well today," Sava said. "That saved me a lot of shots over the course of my round."
Finishing second to Sava in the boys 15-16 division was Evan Danzey with an 84, while Aaron Walkup and Sean Garner tied for third at 86.
Camiel White, who is a member of the Sebring High School girls golf team, finished first in the girls 15-18 age group with a 97.
"My shots were there today," said the Blue Streak linkster. "I was able to keep the ball in play for the most part.
"The greens were a little inconsistent, but I just tried to stay within myself and play my game."
Paige Moffat, who is a member of the Avon Park High School girls golf team, placed second to White with a 109, while Michelle Kennedy finished third with a 145.
Rocky Khara, who won last weekend's Bagwell Junior Invitational at River Greens golf course, continued his torrid play by shooting a 5-under-par 67 to win the boys 17-18 age group.
Blue Streak golfer Blake Liles placed second with a 70, while Clay Davis carded a 74 and Zach Foster finished fourth with a 76.
Colin Walkup won the boys 13-14 division with an 89, Daniel Miller placed second with a 91, Dalton Hewett came in third place with a 101 and Austin Tracey finished fourth at 103.
Sarah Liles won the girls 11-14 age group - which played nine holes - with a 48, while Savana Fisher placed second with a 59.
In the girls 10-under division (which played six holes) Kendall Griffin finished first with a 33.
Silas Berry won the boys 11-12 age group (which played nine) with a 44, while Joey Staffieri came in second with a 47, Dalton Reas finished third with a 48 and Bradley Brewer and Tyler Hewett tied at 49.
In the boys 9-10 division (which played nine) Nick Staffieri finished first with a 46, while Kyle Hewett and Jett Dexter tied for second at 48.
Julian Crozier won the boys 6-8 age group, which played six holes, with a 41, while Garrett Norris placed second with a 53.
"We had a good turnout," said Sertoma Junior Tour director Andy Kesling. "We look forward to more kids coming out and learning more about the game."
The next Sertoma Junior Tour event is slated for next Thursday at The Bluffs in Arcadia.
Tee times begin at 9 a.m.
