Team Guglielmi Wins Rotary Golf

SEBRING - Taking advantage of perfect weather and outstanding scoring conditions, the talented duo of Frank Guglielmi and Dale Anderson shot an impressive 12-under-par 60 to finish first in the Championship Flight of the Sebring Sunrise Rotary Club's annual Smith Barney golf tournament at Sun 'N Lake Country Club on Saturday.

The one-day, 18-hole event attracted a field of 108 players, who competed in a two-person scramble format over the demanding 6,500-yard, par 72 Turtle Run course.

Placing a close second in the Championship Flight with a stellar effort of 61 was the team of teen-age phenom Rocky Khara and Alvin Walter.

Coming in third place with a 62 was the duo of Mike Shawver and Chip Neptune.

Winning the First Flight with a 65 was the team of Andrew Katsanis and Kip Goolsby, after a match of cards with Travis Loseke and Jim Shawver, who placed second, after a match of cards with the duo of Toby Taylor and Mike Sramek.

The Second Flight was won by Bill Turner and Travis Turner with a 63, while the team of Ryan Thorlton and Joey Desimone placed second with a 66.

Matt Hall and Ricky Percy came in third with a 69.

The Third Flight was won by the duo of Art Singley and Greg Hartsel with a 73, while Jeff Carslon and Tom Griffin placed second with a 74.

The duo of Richard Hulbert and Karl Reich finished third with a 75.

Randy Proctor won closest-to-the-pin honors and Mike Lamere won the long drive contest.

Proceeds from the annual tournament go to help defray the club's operating expenses and to many worthy causes in the Heartland.
