Sebring Takes On Booker

SEBRING -- After losing to Sarasota Booker in the Class 4A-District 10 championship game, the Sebring girls basketball team hoped to meet up with the Tornadoes in the state playoffs to extract some revenge.

Wish granted.

The Blue Streaks defeated Haines City 55-48 in last Thursday's regional quarterfinal, while Booker edged Lakeland Kathleen 55-52 to set up tonight's regional semifinal in the Tornadoes gym.

The win over Haines City improved Sebring to 19-8 on the season and gives the Blue Streaks a chance to avenge their district final upset.

"We want Booker," said senior forward Whitney Wells. "We didn't play well against them in the district tournament, and we want to give them a little payback."

The stunning loss to the Tornadoes might have been a blessing in disguise, as Sebring came out focused and played one of its best games of the season against the athletic Hornets.

"The loss to Booker was tough to take," said senior Whitney Lee. "But I think it actually helped us.

"We came out ready to go against Haines City and we need to play the same way against Booker."

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. tonight with the winner moving on to the regional finals to play the winner between South Fort Myers and Cypress Lake.
