Team Spires Wins Band Golf

SEBRING - The talented foursome of Don Spires, Jeff Spires, Danny Sassin and Smokey Smiling made some sweet music in Saturday's Sebring High School Band Booster golf tournament at Sebring Golf Club.

The group combined to shoot an 18-hole net score of 41 to win the scramble format event, which was a fundraiser for the Sebring High band.

Joe DeCerbo, Al Iorinelli, Tony Galka and Alvin Walters placed second in the First Flight with a 45.75, while Dick White, Karen White, Mark White and Tony Mordenga finished third with a 47.

The Second Flight was won by Don Cochran, Kevin Cochran, Ron Cochran and Ryan Cochran with a 35.5, while Tim McKenna, Tony Plyley, John Danko and Theresa Danko placed second with a 38.

Diane Ziesenheim, Ken Ziesenheim, Colorado Paniagua and Greg Hartseil finished third at 42.

Long drive went to T.J. DeCerbo and closest-to-the-pin honors went to Jeremy Bovee.

Members of the Sebring High band played the national anthem before the start of play.

Amvets Post 23 Golf Tournament

SEBRING - The team of Pat Dell, Mike Lamp, Lars Bylund and A.J. Balding won the First Flight of the Amvets Post 23 Tom Berdelle Memorial Golf Tournament with a 51 on Saturday at Harder Hall golf course.

Bert Monk, Claud Crick, Ray Maher and Billy Smith placed second in the four-person scramble event with a 52 and Rod Cooper, Ron Robinette, Brian Gilles and Doug Ebling finished third at 55.

The Second Flight was won by the foursome of Rick Ragland, Andrea Cox, Gene Brown and Chad Demeere with a 48, while Gerald Rhymer, Michael Remes, Steve Remes and Greg Carr came in second with a 52.

The team of Shelby Proud, Jim Price, Rick Douglas and Marty Merrick finished third with a 54.

Long drive honors went to Andrea Cox on hole No. 18 and Mike McMillian on hole No. 1.

Closest-to-the-pin winners were Millie Dickens on No. 9, Betty Garner on No. 16, John O'Neil on No. 5 and Lars Bylund on No. 12.
