TAMPA - After starting the season in an offensive funk, the South Florida Community College baseball team has found its bats.

The Panthers routed Tampa University 13-7 on Saturday to complete a two-game sweep.

Leo Chang picked up the win by allowing three runs in five innings of work to go along with seven strikeouts.

"Leo did a good job of throwing strikes and gave us a solid five innings of work," said SFCC coach Rick Hitt.

Third baseman Steven Levine, who is one of three SFCC starters that has been out with an injury, came back with a vengeance by going 4 for 5 with five RBI.

"The guys are doing a better job at the plate and it was good to have Steven back in the lineup," said Hitt. "He's only about 85 percent, but he swung the bat well.

"We've got a couple of other guys that we hope to get back in a couple of weeks and that should help our offense."

SFCC has now won three consecutive games to improve to 3-4 on the season.

In the opener, freshman left-hander Johnny Sedlock allowed just four hits in six innings of work and didn't allow an earned run as the Panthers rolled to a 5-1 victory over the Spartans.

Sedlock, who was an outstanding pitcher for Avon Park High School, kept Tampa off-balance with a nice mix between his fastball and curveball.

Outfielder Joel Torres was 2 for 3 with a triple and a run scored, while Sebring's Ryan Thorlton was 2 for 4 with two runs scored.

Lefty Jeff Bloomer held off the Tampa bats in the seventh to preserve the victory.

South Florida is back in action with a road game at Webber International University on Tuesday and the Panthers return home for a game against Hillsborough at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
