Streaks Roll Past Dragons
LAKE PLACID - Jake Trussell scored 19 points and senior Sam Robinson chipped in 12 as the Sebring Blue Streaks raced past Lake Placid 75-29 in the final meeting this season of the cross-county rivals.
The score wasn't indicative of the performance by the Blue Streaks, who led by only 14 points at the half and played lazy at times against the Green Dragons.
"You can't win district championships with type of play we showed in the first half," said Sebring head coach Princeton Harris. "We can't just get a lead and hope to sit on it. They have to keep attacking."
Sebring put the game away in the first minutes of the second half, using their press to hold Lake Placid scoreless for three minutes.
Harris said that his team is ready for DeSoto in the first round of the Class 4A-District 10 tournament, which begins on Tuesday, but knows that you don't win these games on paper.
"They're trained and ready to go," Harris said. "But they're the ones who have to execute. I can't get out on the court and play for them."
The Dragons, meanwhile, head to Mulberry next week for the Class 3A-District 10 tournament. They take on the hosts on Friday at 7:45 p.m.

GIRLS SOFTBALL: Avon Park 4, Port Charlotte 3
ARCADIA - The Avon Park girls softball team rallied back from a two-run deficit in the seventh inning on Thursday to steal a 4-3 victory from Port Charlotte at the DeSoto softball tournament.
Ashton Shirey threw seven innings and had two hits and Julie Lamb added two more as the Red Devils improved to 2-0 on the season.
"Someone cancelled our bus, so when we showed up, they came out and jumped ahead," said AP coach Mike Cobb. "But we played outstanding defense and Ashton pitched her butt off. Every position played well - it was grit all the way across the board."
The Red Devils open up district play on Tuesday, when they host Booker. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
