After getting blanked by Sebring on Tuesday night, the Lake Placid girls volleyball team rebounded in a big way by beating Frostproof 25-13, 25-16, 25-13 in the consolation final of the Preseason Classic on Thursday night in the Blue Streak gym.
"That was nice," said veteran Green Dragon coach Marilyn Jones. "Sebring did it to us on Tuesday and I thought it was only fair that we did it to somebody else.
"Our sets were better, we did a much better job of finishing off points at the net and we served the ball with more consistency."
Lake Placid started off slow, but began to find the holes in the Bulldogs' defense as the match wore on.
Senior Kaneisha Hamilton led the attack with 10 kills and eight aces, senior outside hitter Tiffany Bisby had eight kills and junior outside hitter Sierra Weaver finished with seven kills.
"Kaneisha was on fire," Jones said. "I don't know what she ate, but we're going to find out and make sure everybody eats the same thing.
"Julie Shrewsbury got more confident with her sets as the match went on, and Tiffany and Sierra did a good job of finding the open holes."
Class 3A Lake Placid is back in action with an away match at Moore Haven on Tuesday night.
"We have seven seniors on the team," said Jones "But a lot of them didn't start last year and they are still learning the finer points of the game.
"We just need to get some more matches under our belts and we'll be fine."
