Megan Wolfe took seventh place in the finals of the 50-yard freestyle on Friday evening at the Class 2A state swim championships at the Central Florida YMCA.

The junior posted a time of 24.66 in the final race, which featured two swimmers qualifying for All-American status with their times. Seminole sophomore Kaitlin Frehling won the event with a 23.46, while Plant's Margaret Anderson took second with a 23.78.

The Blue Streaks' 200-free team also swam Friday night, taking seventh in the consolation finals with a 1:45.09 - nearly 1/2 second off their qualifying time.

It was the final prep race for two seniors, Leeza Freeland and Katie Havery and the first trip to state for junior Katie Bullard.

"This shows me we can actually make it to state," Bullard said after the team's preliminary race. "A lot of people thought we should shoot for the medley, because the 200-free is so much more competitive, but we stuck with it and now we're here.

"And just being here makes us know it's possible for next year."

Boca Raton won the team title with 182 points, while Sebring's 16 points put them in 28th place out of 40 teams.

"It's an honor to get here and they worked hard to get here," said Sebring coach Pat Caton. "We were all excited just to make it."
