LP Faces Sebring In Soccer Opener

LAKE PLACID - A new beginning.
The Lake Placid girls soccer team opens the season with a road match against rival Sebring at 7:30 tonight at Firemen's Field.

The Green Dragons will be at a slight disadvantage since some of their players are still involved in other sports, and the Blue Streaks already have a match under their belts.
Lake Placid had a strong season last year and made it to the Class 3A-District 8 semifinal.

The Green Dragons are in a very competitive district which includes, Frostproof, McKeel Academy and Mulberry.
Senior Alejandra Lopez, who suffered an ACL injury last year, is rehabbing and back on the team.

Lake Placid coach Elizabeth Sottile, who tragically lost her husband, state trooper Nick Sottile in January, will be back on the sidelines and the players are thrilled to have their coach back.

"She's a great coach and is always supportive," Green Dragon senior Esmeralda Malina said. "She always puts us in the best position to succeed."
