SARASOTA - The top-seeded Sebring girls basketball team had little trouble against Palmetto on Friday night, but an all-Heartland final wasn't meant to be, as host Booker rallied to defeat Avon Park in overtime.
Sebring defeated Palmetto 52-44 to advance to Saturday's final against Booker, which defeated Avon Park 47-45 in OT, erasing an 11-point fourth-quarter advantage.
Red Devil guard Beonca Godfrey led the way with 20 points, while junior Daija Barrett scored 11 points, but missed a pair of free throws in the final seconds that would have tied the game.
Both Sebring and Booker will advance to regionals, though the winner of Saturday's 7 p.m. game will earn a home game in the regional quarterfinals.
