Avon Park's City Council voted to stop negotiations with their first pick for city manager, James F. Coleman.
In a 4-1 vote, council decided that Coleman's offer of $126,747 for city manager or $141,962 for both city manager and airport manager was too extravagant.
"Mr. Coleman does not get it, that the city has made concession for our budget just to make it work," said Mayor Sharon Schuler.
