A former Lakeland police officer was arrested over the weekend on a Polk County warrant charging him with violation of probation in reference to a stalking charge.

Ralph Lee Schrader, 45, of Port St. Lucie, was booked in on Saturday, according to records from the Highlands County Sheriff's Office.

He was released a few hours later on a $5,000 bond.

Schrader was a lieutenant with the department before he resigned earlier this year, according to the Lakeland Ledger. He was sentenced on Jan. 29 to 30 days in jail and 11 months of probation after a jury found him guilty of a misdemeanor charge of stalking his wife.

The warrant said he violated the terms of his probation by moving to Port St. Lucie without notifying his probation officer, the Ledger stated. Schrader also reportedly left the state without authorization.
