A Lake Placid man remained in critical condition Tuesday after suffering a gunshot wound Monday just before 7 p.m.

Medical personnel arrived at Lake June Road and tended to William Firth, 19, who suffered the gunshot wound, according to Highlands County Sheriff's Lt. Tim Lethbridge. He was later flown to an undisclosed hospital.

Lethbridge said investigators are continuing with interviews to find out what happened.

"The investigation's open and the main focus of the investigation is to determine how he received that gunshot wound," he said.

Anyone with information should contact Det. Roger St. Laurent at 863-402-7250. Those wishing to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward can contact the Heartland Crime Stoppers at (800) 226-8477.
