Two injured in Saturday Hammock Road accident

Authorities say two people were injured Saturday night after a motorcyclist hit a car that turned in front of him on Hammock Road.

John Solebello, 47, of Sebring, was eastbound on Hammock Road when a 2001 Chrysler, driven by Kayla Elenia Flores, 18, also of Sebring, tried to turn left onto Jacklin Avenue and pulled in front of him, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Solebello hit the car and was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the shoulder.

He was taken to Tampa General Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, the FHP said. He remained in serious condition Monday, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Flores was taken to Highlands Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries she suffered in the crash. A passenger, Jaymian Colon, 1, was not hurt.

Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, the FHP said. Solebello had on a helmet, as well.

Total damage in the crash was $8,000.
