Tuesday is a planning day for the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners.
Six public hearings are scheduled - three for Lake Placid projects. The first is a large scale future land use amendment for Lake Placid Groves, a community planned by Lykes Brothers three miles north of the town.
A second public hearing will consider a small scale plan amendment for a property located at 25 Bald Cypress St. in Lake Placid, and a third would repeal an ordinance which amends the future land use for the Greater Lake Placid Plan.
Macvail Inc., a planning and zoning hearing, and a small scale plan amendment for Oakley Groves, 2100 U.S. 27 in Venus, are the subjects of three other public hearings.
Action items include approving an interlocal agreement between Highlands County and the Town of Lake Placid for a Joint Planning Area; a presentation from Julie Fowler of the NCT Group of the FY 2009 financial report; a request for support of a broadband technology opportunity program grant application by Lynn Topel of Florida Heartland REDI, and a request by Habitat for Humanity for a $500,000 contribution to build 20 houses at 1400 Martin Luther King Blvd.
