Authorities say a Sebring man stole a $6,000 wedding/engagement ring set and then pawned it for $200.
Daniel Nathan Sears, 29, of 516 Cougar Blvd., Sebring, was served with warrants on Monday, charging him with dealing in stolen property and giving false owner information to pawn items.
He remained in the Highlands County Jail Wednesday under a $35,000 bond.
Sears allegedly pawned the set on Jan. 15. The owner reported the rings stolen on Feb. 4, according to the arrest report. She went to the pawn shop and bought them back for $200.
Lt. Tim Lethbridge, with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office, said Sears was a boyfriend of one of the victim's relatives and had been allowed inside her house where the rings were located.
Lethbridge added the rings were not being used for an upcoming wedding.
