Where is all the anger, pain and hurt coming from? Lashing out at what? Aren't we going through a hard enough time, we the people, with this recession? It's a time when we should be going out of our way to help our neighbors.
Yes, I have used drugs and have broken a lot of laws. Yes, I have done my time in prison. I have paid my dues. I am asking for no special privileges or golden brick roads, just the opposite. I should earn your trust and respect.
I am only asking for a chance to work, pay taxes and live a normal life. Would you rather I went back to selling drugs to your kids, brothers, sisters, mom or dad; stealing anything I could get my hands on, or wasting your tax money on keeping me locked up?
If you are broke down on the side of the road, I am going to stop and help you. When I am pushing your car, truck, van, etc., off of the main road away from danger, are you going to yell out the window, "Hey are you an ex-criminal? If so get away from my car!" You may toss all the rocks you want and I love each and every one of you. Is it so wrong to ask for a second chance?
