FHP: ATV driver dies after hitting utility pole

FHP: 25-year-old suffered ‘massive’ head trauma

A 25-year-old Boynton Beach man died after the ATV he was riding ran off a road in Lake Placid and hit a utility pole Saturday at 3:20 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol

Kyle Stephen Ternenyi was driving south on Placid View Drive, south of the intersection with Jersey Street, when his ATV ran off the road into the grassy shoulder and collided with the wooden pole, the FHP press release said.

He was thrown out of the ATV on the ground and suffered "massive head trauma" due to the collision, the press release said.

He was taken to Florida Hospital Lake Placid and pronounced dead at 4:37 a.m.

Ternenyi was wearing a seatbelt, and it is not yet known if alcohol was involved, the FHP said.
