A student at Hill-Gustat Middle School was arrested Tuesday and charged with battery on the dean of students.
Highlands County Sheriff's Deputy Thomas Ouverson was called to the guidance office to assist the dean. When he got there, he could hear yelling and profanity, according to the arrest report.
The deputy found the dean had pinned a 15-year-old in the corner of the office. Ouverson separated the two and took the student outside.
The dean said the juvenile became upset while on the phone with his mother and started using profanity, the report stated. He was told to stop, but refused.
When the student tried to leave, the dean blocked the door and was reportedly pushed out of the way. The juvenile was told to sit down, and he responded by shoving the dean's arms out of the way and twisting his fingers.
The student was charged with battery on a public or private education employee, a third-degree felony.
