One person was arrested last month in Miami-Dade County in connection with a burglary at a Sebring business where $50,000 worth of equipment was allegedly stolen, authorities said.
Miami-Dade County Police arrested Xavier Velez of 1551 N.E. 167th St., Miami, Feb. 10 after an arrest warrant was issued in Highlands County on a grand theft charge, according to a Highlands County Sheriff's office press release.
Velez was released on a $25,000 bond, and is awaiting his court date.
Ridge Equipment Co., 6820 U.S. 27 S. in Sebring, was reportedly burglarized Feb. 1, the press release added.
Approximately $50,000 worth of equipment was stolen, including commercial mowers and utility vehicles.
The sheriff's office is continuing to investigate this case to identify and arrest other suspects. The investigation spans counties as far north as Ocala and along the east coast of Florida.
