More file for county, school elections

Richard Norris, Olivia Scott and Don Elwell have filed for school board and county commission seats.

Norris, of 114 McKinley Ave. in Lake Placid, is seeking another term in school board district 4. Recently, William K. Brantley II, 417 E. Interlake, challenged Norris for the seat.

Scott, 3032 N. Noel Road, Avon Park, has filed for school board seat 1, along with Ronnie Larry Jackson, 2840 N. Lancaster Road, Avon Park.

The other seat up for election is school board district 5, which is current occupied by Andy Tuck. He has filed for re-election.

Elwell, PO Box 8215, Sebring, and Pete Pollard, Spring Lake, have filed for seat 2 on the county commission.

The other commission seat up for election in 2010 is district 4. Incumbent Don Bates has said he will run again.

According to a state formula, school board members got a 0.6 percent raise this year, so they will earn $30,706. County commissioners are paid $49,156 annually.
