The people from Highlands Little Theatre have been at it once more - casting parts, getting costumes together, getting the set all in order and all the hundred and one plus a few more details of getting a play ready for the curtain to go up.
I can only imagine the times a person has to read their part to learn the lines; then there is getting the facial expressions and body movements to go with each line. Everyone in attendance sure owes the cast and director a hearty hand of applause, not only while in attendance but while they are telling their family and friends about the things listed above about the play. Don't forget the set crew, sound and lighting people as well.
I have to admit as for the play itself, "You Can't Take It With You" was by far not one of my favorites; but that does not stop me from seeing how good Art Harriman as Grandpa, Justin Acker as Ed, Samantha Willingham as Alice, Brad Dickerson as Anthony Kirby Jr. all played their parts. Well to be truthful the whole cast did a spectacular job.
The Depot Restaurant of Avon Park put out a dinner not to be beat. The prime rib was fork tender, the baked potato was baked to perfection, then there was those green beans, I still haven't figured out how they can look so half cooked to be so good. What no chocolate cake? Now that was a let down, until I tasted the cake they did serve, layers of white cake with blueberries, with a sort of cheese cake filling. Oh yummy.
The night at the theater sure beat any thing on TV. Plus I got to dress up, which you don't have to do but I enjoy.
