As Christian ministers, I do not believe that we should pretend to be speaking for God; that is, to be speaking in God's stead. The very best we can do is to call attention to what God has already said. That is why the Bible is our final authority. I do not propose to give you some profound revelation, unless it would be to those who are not familiar with the Bible.
Unfortunately, many who claim to be Christians do not fully accept or abide by Bible teachings. Unfortunately also, many Jews have strayed from, or have deliberately rejected their Sacred Scriptures. This is why multitudes of Jews and Gentiles are drifting around in an uncharted and mind numbing spiritual vacuum! They have neither landmarks nor purpose beyond the present moment. I have said before that most of our troubles as a nation are spiritual.
What has God said? Way back in time God gave certain commandments, which both Jews and Christians embrace. The way of life proposed brings heartfelt peace and satisfaction. Those commandments are summarized in just two statements. The first is, "You shall love your God with all that is in you." The second is, "You shall love your neighbor at least as much as you love yourself!" (Paraphrased for clarity)
Christianity is a peaceful way of life. God offers us forgiveness of our sins, leading to peace within and bids us to live at peace with our neighbors to the extent possible, giving us peace without. Christ urges us to make disciples, but in no way is this to be accomplished by force. This offers no threat to others, so why is there so much animosity aroused?
Any religion which attempts to make adherents by force is to be denounced and resisted. Those who are forced to comply are forced to lie, because they cannot be sincere.
