Two Sebring men suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle accident Saturday morning at the intersection of State Road 25 and Orange Avenue.
Roy W. Shores, 86, was crossing the northbound lanes of SR 25 in a 2005 Ford van when he pulled into the path of a southbound 2009 Nissan pickup driven by Cary D. Hitt, 40, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Shores was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center. There was no new information available Monday on his condition, according to hospital representatives.
Hitt was transported to Tampa General Hospital following the accident. A hospital spokesperson said Monday he was in good condition.
A passenger in Hitt's vehicle, Shelly C. Taylor, 33, also of Sebring, suffered minor injuries, according to the FHP. She was treated at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Shores was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident, but Hitt and Taylor were not, the FHP said. Alcohol was not a contributing factor in the accident.
Total damages in the crash came out to $20,000.
