Betting against Tebow has always been a bad idea

No doubt Gator haters will cringe reading this, but we hope even opponents appreciate what they've had the honor to witness for the last four years. They've seen arguably the best college football player in history every week during the season live up to all the hype.

Tim Tebow played the last game of his career in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans Friday evening. It was the best game of his career. He completed 31 of 35 passes for 482 yards and three touchdowns, plus he rushed for 51 yards and another touchdown. It was an unbelievable finish to an unbelievable college football career.

Since the day he was recruited, Tebow seemed too good to be true. His service to his church and to others seemed somehow unreal, even fake. Those who instantly disliked him because of this goodness have never changed their minds, but also never found anything to prove he is anything but genuine about his faith.

Everyone who has met this young man comes away in awe of him, how his priorities are so mature and how he truly believes in serving God by helping others. So many athletes say all the right things but Tebow lives it.

On the football field, he's the same way. Anyone doubting him will come away understanding why he's considered one of the greats of all time. Even if they aren't Gator fans, they respect Tebow.

Whether anyone will admit it or not, college football is a better place for having Tebow be a part of it for the last four years. And young people across the country have latched onto Tebow's service to others and he's set a great example for them to emulate.

Gator hater or not, you have to appreciate this fine young man and all he's achieved. Plenty of experts say he won't fare so well at the pro level. Perhaps. Then again, betting against Tebow has been a losing proposition for a long time.
