Thanks for helping visually and hearing impaired

The Lake Placid Lions Club wants to thank all the wonderful people who supported our efforts to help the visually and hearing impaired in Highlands County.

You made our veggie fundraiser at the Country Fair several weeks ago a complete success. Not only did we completely sell out but the wonderful donations we received from many giving folks were very much appreciated.

We especially want to thank Miller Farms of Lake Placid, who are always so generous by donating all the beautiful, fresh veggies we sell for the two days every year. We truly appreciate their kind help, knowing that many more who need help will now get it.

We are always looking for new members who are willing to help us. We meet at 7 p.m. every second Tuesday of the month at St. Francis of Assisi Church and at 6:15 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday at Jan's Restaurant, both in Lake Placid.

If you would like to help the Lions in any way you can call Jeanne at 699-0743 or 441-1207.

Thanks residents of Lake Jackson Heights

When I arrived home from work on Feb. 22, my 8-year-old poodle was missing.

I had some work done on my house and the workers accidentally let her out. I was hysterical, going house to house.

I just want to say that the residents of Lake Jackson Heights subdivision are phenomenal! Several neighbors immediately jumped in their cars and helped with the search. Because of their gracious efforts, she was located and returned home.

I just wanted to thank them and the nice lady who found and housed her until she could be claimed. My gratitude is indescribable.
