A Valentine's Day argument between Sebring family members led to a 77-year-old man arrested on allegations that he hit a 77-year-old woman with a moving car.

John Albin Peterson, 77, of Sebring, is charged with aggravated battery on a person 65 years of age or older, a first-degree felony. He remained in the Highlands County Jail Tuesday under a $15,000 bond.

The victim said she and Peterson had been arguing and he got into his Nissan passenger car to leave, according to the arrest report.

"The victim advised that the front driver's door was open and the rear driver's side door of the vehicle was also open," Highlands County Sheriff's Deputy Phillip Morales wrote in the arrest report.

Peterson reportedly said he wanted nothing to do with the victim and sped away, despite "having full knowledge" that the woman would be hit.

The victim said she was knocked to the ground by the rear passenger door. The back of her head struck the asphalt and she suffered a deep cut, the report stated. She also suffered minor scrapes on her right hand.

Peterson then allegedly fled despite knowing the woman was hurt.
