Street party in Lake Placid

LAKE PLACID - The merchants on Interlake Boulevard in Lake Placid will host a street party with a '50s sock hop theme from 6 - 9 tonight.

DJ Justin Morris and singer Julie Temple will be providing the entertainment.

Several businesses will be participating with sidewalk sales and event specials.

Dance Club features The Skylarks

SEBRING - The Highlands Social Dance Club hosts ballroom dancing tonight from 7 - 9:30 at the Sebring Lions Club on Sebring Parkway.

The Skylarks will be playing.

Free dance lessons are available from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

All club dances are open to the public. Appropriate dress is required.

Admission is $5 for members and $7 for nonmembers.

BackStage Pass to play at Watering Hole

SEBRING - BackStage Pass will be at The Watering Hole, 6813 U.S. 27 S. in Sebring, from 9:30 p.m. - 1:45 a.m. today and Feb. 6.

Church to hold Greek Festival

WINTER HAVEN - The Greek Festival of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church will begin today and continue through Feb. 7.

The hours are 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday.

There will be Greek food and pastry, live Greek music and dancing and cooking demonstrations.

Admission is $2 for those 12 and older.

The church is located at 1030 Bradbury Road.

Country Fair planned in LP

LAKE PLACID - The 44th annual Lake Placid Arts and Crafts Country Fair will be held from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Feb. 6 and 7 in DeVane Park on West Interlake Boulevard.

There will be more than 165 booths featuring arts and crafts and food vendors as well as live music by a variety of area musicians.

Free movies slated at libraries

SEBRING - Free movies will be shown at the Avon Park and Sebring libraries on Feb.6. They start at 2 p.m.

"The Postman Always Rings Twice" will be shown at Avon Park, 100 N. Museum Ave., while the Sebring library, 319 W. Center Ave., will show "Black Beauty."

No movies are scheduled in Lake Placid on Feb. 6 and 13.
