It's been three weeks since Haiti's devastating earthquake hit and the Red Cross's relief efforts are in full swing.
In Highlands County the Red Cross has collected over $10,000 from donations to its Sebring office. This includes text messaged donations, online contributions and drop-offs.
"We've had tremendous response from the public," said Phil Attinger, American Red Cross Mid-Florida Region spokesperson.
On Monday radio broadcaster Dave Onsted, "Morning Dave," from the Morning Show on WWLL Lite 105.7 F.M., announced it was Broadcasters for Haiti day.
The station's week-long effort is to raise awareness on the dire need for more aid.
The Red Cross pledged to collect $100 million for Haiti's relief and they are almost there. They've collected $67 million to date.
The Red Cross anticipates being in Haiti until the need is met.
"We have a lot of trained people there and they are providing the assistance they need. Right now getting the money to the right places is very important," Onsted said.
