I am responding to the writer who complained about going to a Tampa Bay Rays game. He complained that the Rays were not Yankee fan-friendly by having the mascot, Raymond, in the way and not showing instant replays when the Yanks made a good play.
I am the biggest Rays fan on earth and I love Tropicana Field. It is fan friendly and everyone can have fun there. There are numerous activities to do other than watch the game such as "You Be the Announcer," live Rays tank, and baseball videogames. When the Yanks come to the Trop, I hate it because half of the fans there are not Rays fans and New York is not near Florida.
I can't believe that the Trop is the second fan base for the Yankee fans to go to; this isn't the Bronx.
These are home games for the Rays so visitor fans should not expect their team to be featured by the instant replay on the Jumbo Tron or have their team mascot there. If Yankee fans want to go to a Yankee game for the screen to show instant replay of good Yankee plays, then they should go to a Yankee home game in New York.
Tropicana Field is the home of the Tampa Bay Rays, not for the New York Yankees or any other MLB clubs.
Last year, my family and I went to a spring training baseball game: the Rays at Cincinnati Reds in Sarasota.
Sarasota was the home to the Reds for spring training, but a lot of Rays fans were there because of the proximity to the Tampa Bay area.
However, at the game, the stadium didn't sell any Rays merchandise or showing Rays game highlights because it was a Reds home game.
I wasn't surprised and the Yankee fans going to the Trop shouldn't either because the home crowd is supposed to root for the home team.
And for Raymond the mascot issue, I love Raymond. He is the funniest and most unusual sport mascot I have seen. I just do not know why visiting fans are complaining about these kinds of things.
