Firefighters were busy battling a mobile home blaze at Woody's RV Resort, located at 4414 U.S. 27, around 2 p.m. Friday.
The mobile home was a complete loss by the time firefighters arrived. Huge clouds of black smoke could be seen from Lakeview Drive.
Manager Frank Erwin said no one was inside the home at the time the fire started. He phoned 911 after getting a Weed Eater out of the shed and then seeing smoke and flames.
"I was just in that thing the other day," Erwin said.
The unit was next to the resort's main office, which suffered some damage on the side. Erwin did not know what the status of the inside was.
Most of the residents were not in the park at the time of the fire, according to the Sebring Police Department. Those whose homes were close to the fire were told to move away.
The DeSoto City Fire Department, Highlands County EMS and the SPD were on the scene.
