A 55-year-old Sebring motorcyclist died Saturday morning after being struck by a pickup truck.

At 6:20 a.m., a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by David R. Samperi, 17, of Lake Placid, was southbound on U.S. 27 and attempted a U-turn at Lake Henry Drive. The truck pulled into the path of a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle, driven by David W. Simpson-Scott, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The motorcycle collided with the rear door of the truck, and stopped under the driver's rear tire. Traffic was closed in the southbound lane for hours, until the truck could be lifted.

Samperi was not injured. The accident was not alcohol related.
